What are energy balls?
Energy balls are nutrient-packed snacks that taste like dessert and are packed in a ball shape. Basically contains dried fruits (usually dates), nuts/seeds, nut/seeds butter, and other ingredients are added too.
They are plant-based snacks, that are quick to make and are so versatile, you can mix in any nuts or seeds and make a healthy vegan snack, that is ready in 10 minutes.
They are perfect for:
- Those who are always on the go and looking for healthy snacks.
- School lunch boxes, my kid JUST loves her energy balls, it’s her favorite snack.
- Pre or post work out snacks
- Mid-day snack for an energy boost.
Recipe ingredients:
- Dates: After trying many types of dates for making energy balls, I can confidently tell you that Medjool dates are the best for making incredibly delicious energy balls. They are moist, soft, and meaty, and honestly taste like caramel. Other dates can be used but they tend to be drier so needs to moisten them first.
- Nuts: I have used classical Arabic nuts, Pistachios, and walnuts. You can substitute with Almonds or any other nuts you prefer.
- Tahini
- Sesame seeds: for rolling the balls and coating.
- Pink Salt: you can use sea salt instead but don’t skip it, it added saltiness.
Storing:
You can easily store them in a glass Tupperware and store them in the fridge for up to a week (if you can resist the temptation that long ). They also freeze well in the freezer, personally I never freeze them as they are pretty easy to make and we prefer them fresh too.
