This is the best homemade green juice recipe. It will give you an energy boost and a dose of essential vitamins and minerals. This healthy, cold-press green juice recipe is great for detoxing!
My journey with juicing began three years ago when I started watching Kristina’s videos on YouTube, the most famous raw vegan, “fullyrawkristina.” I fell in love with her easy juicing recipes, and I even enrolled in her five-day juicing program, which was the best thing I ever did!
Immediately after, I purchased a juicer, and this green juice recipe is my favorite go-to recipe that is always on repeat, especially to detox.
This green juice recipe is ” loaded” with healthy veggies, and you can easily incorporate it into your diet. I usually start my day with green juice, and this recipe is probably the “healthiest” breakfast you can have!
Ingredients:
- Celery is a key ingredient in every green juice recipe. It is highly recommended that you use both the stalks and the leaves.
- Cucumber: adding cucumbers to green juice is great for gut health, hydration, and managing blood sugar.
- Leafy green veggies: kale, spinach, arugula, and Romain lettuce. I’ve used all of these in this recipe, but you can choose one or combine two. The more leafy green veggies you add, the more you benefit.
- Coriander
- Parsley
- Lemon
- Green apples: These are optional, but they naturally sweeten the juice. You can also replace them with red apples if you want the juice to be sweeter.
- Fresh ginger
- Fresh turmeric
- Black pepper is added to improve turmeric absorption!
How to make the best green juice recipe:
- Begin by prepping your ingredients and washing and cutting the veggies and fruits.
- Start juicing by adding the ginger, turmeric, and lemon to the juicer first. Then, start juicing the celery, green leafy veggies, apples, and cucumbers.
- After the juicing, you can use a strainer to strain the juice further and pour it into glass jars.
- Add black pepper powder and mix to combine.
Pro Tips:
- If you use organic produce, you do not need to peel the skin of cucumbers, apples, ginger, or turmeric. Make sure to wash them very well, and you can add them directly to the juicer without peeling. However, if you are not using organic produce, it is best to peel the skin first and then juice them.
- It is better to peel lemons’ skins. The juice tends to be very bitter if you add the whole lemon with skin on.
Recipe variations:
This green juice recipe is highly customizable; you can omit or add more ingredients.
Start with celery, cucumber, apples, and lemons for beginner-friendly green juice, and build your green juice from there. It is best to start with a few ingredients that you like so you can enjoy the juice, and slowly add more leafy green veggies and other ingredients.
Storing:
Transfer the green juice into airtight glass jars or bottles and store in the refrigerator. It can last up to four days.
This recipe yields about 2.4 liters of green juice, which I usually consume in 3 days. However, you can cut the recipe in half if you consume less.
FAQ
You can make this recipe using a blender. Add all the ingredients (in batches) to your blender and blend on high speed (you might want to add a bit of water to help the blender start blending). Strain the juice using a strainer or milk bag.
If you are just starting with green juice, this recipe might be too advanced for you. As a beginner, I highly recommend starting with a “simpler” green juice; check the “Recipe variation” section above for recommendations.
The green juice pulp is mainly fiber, especially if you use a good slow juicer; the pulp will be very dry. You can add it to smoothies, muffins, and pancakes, as well as crackers.
It is normal for any natural juice to separate when it sets. The water will rise to the top, and the heavier components of the juice, like the minerals, vitamins, and pulp, will sit at the bottom. All you need to do is gently stir or shake the bottle before you drink it.
