This 5-ingredient wellness shots recipe is a natural flu vaccine that will boost your immunity, especially during flu season.
Homemade wellness shots are far better than store-bought ones, and here is why you should be making your own:
- Cost-effective, store-bought ones are costly, and god knows what ingredients go inside them.
- This wellness shot recipe uses only five ingredients and can be done in under ten minutes!
- It has numerous health benefits: it is anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant, high in vitamin C, helps detoxify the liver, and enhances skin health.
Ingredients:
- Oranges
- Lemons
- Fresh ginger
- Fresh turmeric
- Black pepper
How to make this wellness shots recipe?
I personally use a juicer to prepare these shots; it is quick and convenient. However, you can also prepare them using a blender and strain the juice using a nut milk bag or fine mesh strainer.
- Peel oranges and lemons and add them to the juicer.
- Peel the ginger and turmeric, cut them into cubes, and add them to the juicer.
- Strain the juice through a colander and add black pepper powder; mix well and serve!
Tips & Tricks:
- These shots are concentrated and spicy. If you prefer yours less spicy, use less ginger and turmeric or dilute them with orange juice or any juice of choice.
- It is also suitable for kids to add (small amount only) to their fruit juice or smoothies.
- Fresh turmeric tends to stain hands, so make sure to wear gloves while peeling and cutting it.
- Please don’t skip the black pepper; it is crucial to enhance turmeric absorption in the body.
- You can optionally add coconut oil or MCT oil to these shots, as these enhance the absorption of turmeric.
- Some health conditions might make these shots inconvenient and too intense for someone’s digestive tract, so it is good to consult a healthcare provider before you make them. However, if your health is fine, these shots are a great addition to boost your immune system.
How to store the shots:
Store in airtight glass jars in the refrigerator. They can last up to 3 days in the fridge.
You can freeze them by transferring them into an ice cube tray. Once frozen, transfer to a zip-lock bag and store in the freezer for up to one month.
Let them thaw in the refrigerator overnight before serving, or add the cubes to your smoothies or smoothie bowls.
